How to use Siv Golf

Everything you need as a player. It takes a couple of minutes to set up, then the site does the rest.

Getting started

1. An admin adds you and you get an email titled You're invited to Silv Golf.
2. Tap Set up my profile, check your name and choose a password (8 characters or more). The link lasts 14 days.
3. You're logged in and taken to your profile. Log in later with your email address and that password.

Link expired? Use Forgot password on the login page with the same email address, or ask an admin to send a new invite.

Your profile and handicap

Tap your name or picture at the top right to open My profile.

• Photo: choose one from your phone or computer. It's cropped square and shrunk before it uploads.
• Nickname, home club, mobile and About me: all optional. Other players see them on your profile.
• GA number: your 10-digit Golf Link number.
• GA handicap: check it on the GA Handicap app or golf.org.au and update it here before each round.

You play off the lower of your GA handicap and your RC handicap (worked out from your Silv Golf scores), capped at 27. Your profile shows all three numbers.

Press Save profile when you're done. You can change your password at the bottom of the same page.

Put the app on your phone

There's nothing to download from an app store. The website installs itself as an app:

• iPhone: open the site in Safari, tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen.
• Android: open the site in Chrome, tap the ⋮ menu, then Install app or Add to Home screen.

The Silv Golf icon appears with your other apps and uses the same login as the website.

Replying to a round

When a round is set, you get an email with the date, course, tee time and cost, plus a calendar file you can tap to add it to your phone's calendar.

• Tap Yes, I'm in or Can't make it in the email. Your answer shows on the site straight away.
• You can also reply on the home page or the round's page, and change your mind any time until the round starts.
• If you haven't replied, you'll get a reminder closer to the date.

Scoring on the day

The admin sets the groups and tee times before the round. You'll get an email with your group, and scoring opens once groups are confirmed.

1. Open the app and tap Score. You go straight to your group's card.
2. The hole number, par and stroke index are at the top. Gold dots next to a name are the shots that player gets on that hole.
3. For each player, tap the grey par to accept it, or use + and −. Tap P if someone picked up (0 points).
4. Stableford points work themselves out as you go. Use the arrows or the numbered circles to move between holes.

Anyone in your group can enter scores for the whole group, so one person can keep the card while the others play. Two people entering the same hole is fine; the latest entry wins.

No signal? Keep going. Scores are saved on your phone and sent when you're back in range. The badge at the top right shows Offline or how many are waiting to send.

If the course has no scorecard on file, you enter each player's Stableford points per hole instead of strokes.

Turned up without replying? Open Score and tap Join next to the group you're playing with.

Side games

• Nearest the pin, Eagles Nest, longest drive: holes with a side comp have a gold ring on the hole circles. On that hole a yellow box appears under the scores. Pick who's closest (or longest) in your group, type the distance if you measured it, and tap Save. The admin compares the groups and picks the winner.
• Skins: if the admin has turned skins on, the best Stableford score on a hole in your group wins the skin. Tied holes carry over to the next one. The Games tab keeps the tally.

The Games tab shows every side comp, what each group has claimed, and the skins table. Board shows the live points for the whole field.

Signing your card

1. When all 18 holes are in, open the Card tab and check your scores.
2. Tap Sign my card.
3. A playing partner then taps Attest next to your name on their phone. Once it's attested, your card is locked.

Spotted a mistake after it's locked? Tell an admin and they'll fix it.

Photos and videos

• Go to Photos, or scroll to the bottom of any round's page.
• Tap Choose photos or videos and pick up to 20 at a time. Photos are shrunk on your phone first, so they upload quickly even on mobile data. Videos can be up to 80 MB each.
• Choose the round they're from and add a caption if you like, then tap Upload.
• Tap any photo to see it full screen and swipe through. To fix a caption or delete one of yours, open it and use Edit or delete.

Photos are only visible to logged-in players. Keep them friendly: nothing you wouldn't show the whole group.

The leaderboard

Your best 6 rounds out of 10 count. On the leaderboard, the shaded scores are the ones counting at the moment. Ties are split on your next best score outside the counting rounds. The Chasing table underneath shows the score you need to beat to improve your total.

Something's not working

• Not getting emails: check your junk folder and add the Silv Golf address to your contacts.
• App looks out of date: close it fully and open it again, or pull down to refresh.
• Can't score: scoring opens once the admin confirms groups. If you're still not in a group on the day, use Join on the Score screen.
• Anything else: use the Contact page and an admin will get back to you.
